Bill Heroux and Chris Brame Outside MVA’s Future Headquarters

Bill Heroux has been supported by MV Advancements for many years. He is an integral part of our community, regularly participating in weekly activities with the Day Support Activities program. Especially arts and crafts, where he always brings fun and laughter to the team. Bill lives independently with the support of our Supported Living Team, and every Thursday, Chris Brame, a Direct Support Professional, picks him up for errands.

Their routine includes grocery shopping, recycling drop-offs, and bank visits—whatever Bill needs to take care of. But ever since construction began on MV Advancements’ new headquarters building in McMinnville, another important stop has been added to the list.

Every Thursday, Bill visits the construction site. Since the very beginning of the project, he has made it a priority to check in, take photos, wave at the construction workers, and keep himself updated on the progress. His excitement about our new space has been undeniable. However, until recently, he had only been able to observe from outside the construction fence.

When we learned about Bill’s weekly visits, we knew we had to do something special. We arranged a time for him to come inside the fence, tour the site, see the progress up close, and walk through the building for the first time. Needless to say, he was thrilled with the progress.

On the day of the tour, Bill arrived ready to go, proudly wearing his Mickey Mouse-themed hard hat—because if you know Bill, you know he’s the biggest Disney fan of all time. As we walked through the building, he eagerly took photos of every corner and crevice, all while keeping us entertained with his signature humor.

When asked if he had a message to share with our supporters about the new headquarters, Bill had this to say:

“My name is Bill Heroux, I’m 73 years old. I’m a senior and I want to welcome all of you to the new MVA office. The building is all built up here, but the insides got a ways to go yet. So, I want to welcome all of you to the new MVA office.”

Bill isn’t the only one eager to see the progress on our new headquarters, so here’s an update on where things stand.

  • October 2024 – The City of McMinnville approved building permits, and the foundation was poured.
  • November 2024 – The building was framed, and walls were put up in preparation for the arrival of the trusses.
  • December 2024 – Trusses were installed, and the roof was assembled.
  • January 2025 – Walls and roofing were completed, HVAC work began, the concrete for the outdoor patios was poured, and windows and door frames were installed.
  • February 2025 – Siding work began, and the electrical installation moved forward.

In the coming months, plumbing and drywall installation will begin, and stonework will be added around the building.

Andrew Scott Construction, the general contractor managing construction, has been working tirelessly to get this project done, but there is still much to do.

“Weather has been the biggest issue,” Shane Trode, Project Manager, said. “When there’s snow and adverse weather conditions it is hard to get people here on site safely.”

With winter behind us, the team is eager to take advantage of better weather to move construction forward.

“On the positive side of things, our subcontractors have been great to work with and have all held to the schedule,” Shane said.

Andrew Scott Construction works with sub-contractors like Jeremy Rhodes Construction, who did the roofing, Jorge Dominguez Construction, who framed the building, and Nice Electric, who is handling all the electrical work.

“Everything seems to be working perfectly,” Shane said. “Don’t want to jinx it, but it is!”

Our team is excited to see progress and looks forward to a move-in date in the Fall of this year. Thank you to all our supporters, we couldn’t do it without you!
