The Hardworking Pel Montgomery

December 2014 Employee of the Month

Pel Montgomery has been an incredible asset to the Bailey Nurseries crew. His work has been recognized by his supervisor as well as other employees at the job site. Sergio, the container foreman, regularly makes comments to his supervisor about how hard Pel works and that he is never distracted from the task at hand. In December he covered several extra shifts for coworkers who were on vacation. Congratulations Pel!

Employment First and You

Reprinted from the Winter 2014 newsletter

By this time, you many have heard the team “Employment First” and wonder what it means for you.

The State of Oregon adopted the Employment First policy in 2008 and providers throughout the state have been on a mission to build capacity to support community employment. Mid-Valley Rehabilitation (now MV Advancements) has adopted the Employment First philosophy and presumption that individuals experiencing I/DD can work in jobs fully integrated in the community. According to Employment First, “Integrated employment includes typical workplace settings where there are regular opportunities for meaningful interaction with co-workers without disabilities and/or […]

Mid-Valley Wood Products – An Outstanding Run

Reprinted from the Winter 2014 newsletter

By Bob Dobson, Foreman

I would like to take the time to express my view and opinion of our safety record. I have heard many people voice their sadness of our “LOSS” and that they hate the fact that our record has come to an “END”. For those that think in those terms, I’m afraid they won’t understand how I look at this as a time of celebration and the start of a new challenge.

First of all I would like to congratulate the Wood Products team on reaching 7,741 days without a time loss accident! […]

The new office space is currently under construction and will feature six new offices, new siding and windows, a covered porch, and a conference/training room. Jeremy Meets His Hero

This was a BIG day for Jeremy. Why you ask? Because on this day Jeremy met one of his heroes from his favorite local radio station. While walking the exercise path at Amity CIS during a fundraiser for the 2014 “Biggest Turkey” campaign, Dave Adams from KLYC 1260 AM radio showed up to broadcast the event. Jeremy’s staff pointed out to him that Dave was there, and for those who know Jeremy well- the high pitched noise that came from him could only mean one thing- pure excitement and happiness!! Jeremy met Dave and spent the remainder of […]
